Today

When I woke up, you were on my mind.
I felt around the bed, and your hand, I could not find.
Then, I realized you were away, today.

I missed you like my favorite childhood toy.
I needed you like a father to a boy.
Then, I realized you were away, today.

Images of you ran through my brain.
Right then all I heard was the rain.
Then, I realized you away, today.

Tears began to fill my eye's.
Oh, how I hate good-bye's.
Then I realized you were away, today.

I hear your key in the door.
Your t-shirt was what I wore.
Then, I realized you always come back TODAY.
